Concave posterior margined dorsal fin. No color patterns for the adults but the juveniles have dark transverse bands with some dark spots. These sharks are nocturnal animals and Classified as Near Threatened (NT) on the IUCN Red List. Its minimum population doubling is 4.5–14 years range. The major threats to these sharks are the loss of their habitat, pollution, and hunting (both for aquarium trade as well as food). Reproduction is oviparous.

Porcelain Anemone Crab (Neopetrolisthes maculosus). Their claws are proportionally large and they have three walking legs each side as against a normal crab which will have four, They have a prominent set of feelers which extend outwards to catch floating by plankton and the eyes are on short stalks. Compared to normal crabs the body is slightly elongated. They grow to a maximum width of 5 cm. Myrichthys colubrinus, the banded snake eel, ringed snake eel or harlequin snake eel. It grows to a size of 97 cm in length and is often mixed up with the banded sea krait due to its ability to the Batesian mimicry. It also adjusts its behaviour to swim freely during the day, whereas other snake eels tend to stay hidden and roam at night. This ist a starry pufferfish in its mouth you can see a Cymothoa exigua, or the tongue-eating louse, it is a parasitic isopod of the family Cymothoidae. This parasite enters fish through the gills. The female attaches to the tongue and the male attaches on the gill arches beneath and behind the female. Females are 8–29 millimetres (0.3–1.1 in) long and 4–14 mm (0.16–0.55 in) wide. Males are approximately 7.5–15 mm (0.3–0.6 in) long and 3–7 mm (0.12–0.28 in) wide. The parasite severs the blood vessels in the fish’s tongue, causing the tongue to fall off. It then attaches itself to the remaining stub of the tongue and becomes the fish’s new tongue. Tube dwelling anemone Ceriantharians have a crown of tentacles that are composed of two whorls of distinctly different sized tentacles. The outer whorl consists of large tentacles that extend outwards. These tentacles taper to points and are mostly used in food capture and defence. The smaller inner tentacles are held more erect than the larger lateral tentacles and are used for food manipulation and ingestion. Rescue of a Monitor Lizard

Mouth brooding male Cheilodipterus macrodon, the large-toothed cardinalfish. You can see the eggs in its mouth Mouthbrooding, also known as oral incubation and buccal incubation. Typically, after courtship, the male fertilises the eggs and then collects them in his mouth, holding onto them until they hatch. During this time he cannot feed. Small and hard to photograph but I was lucky enough to get a portrait shot of a Chrysiptera parasema, also known as yellowtail damselfish. In the wild, male C. parasema have their own territories, located near a nesting site. Each territory contains eggs from previous females. The females will swim around inspecting each male and its territory before choosing one based on its size and the number of eggs in its territory. As a part of the evaluation, the female will display a light ring around her eyes, and the male will respond with its own displays. The next day, the female will spawn with the chosen male. An individual male can have up to 10,000 eggs from different females. Males often abandon their territories to claim territories with more eggs, as this makes them appear more favorable to the females. The eggs hatch after up to 4 days, depending on temperature, and the male is responsible for guarding and caring for the eggs. The subsequent larval stage can take 10 to 50 days. This Hypselodoris pulchella #nudibranch was a bit Special it had a split tail as you can see on the picture. Not sure if this is a genetic mutation or if it was an attack from a predator. Today is international whaleshark day. Let us appreciate and protect this magnificent shark. 10 facts about whaleshark 10. With the exception of the Mediterranean Sea, whale sharks can be found in all temperate and tropical oceans around the world and migrate thousands of miles to different feeding grounds. 9. The whale shark has distinctive light-yellow/white markings (random stripes and dots) on its very thick, dark gray skin. 8. Despite their size, whales sharks are considered harmless and are often referred to as “gentle giants.” 7. It is thought that whale sharks may have a lifespan of 100 to 150 years. 6. The whale shark is a filter feeder and can neither bite nor chew. Although its mouth can stretch to four feet wide, its thousands of teeth are so tiny that it can only eat small shrimp, fish and plankton by using its modified gill rakers as a suction filter. 5. A whale shark can process more than 6,000 liters of water an hour through its gills. 4. A whale shark’s mouth is at the very front of its head—as opposed to the underside of the head like most sharks. 3. It is thought that less than 10 percent of whale sharks born survive to adulthood. Upon giving birth, the mother shark leaves her young to fend for themselves. 2. Whale sharks are slow swimmers, moving at speeds of no little more than 3 miles per hour. 1. The main threat to whale sharks is the growth of unregulated and unsustainable fisheries to supply international trade demands for shark fins, liver oil (used to waterproof wooden boats), skin and meat. Brilliant flatworm (Pseudobiceros fulgor). Did you know? Pseudobiceros are hermaphrodites. Flatworms engage in penis fencing. 😂 When the “winner” touches its penis to the “skin” of the other, insemination occurs, and the “loser” has to bear the burden of motherhood.
