2nd Cleanup day of a Ghost fishing Net

1 day wasn’t enough to remove all of it so we went out again today with 17 divers to clean up the rest! Big Thanks to the Marine National Park of Phi Phi Islands by coming out and supporting us with divers and speedboat! Also a big thanks goes to Project Abroad with their staff and Volunteers! And last but not least our staff and customers who volunteered! The damage was imense at the reef but at least we could rescue some fish crabs shrimps and seastars out of the Net! Please follow proper Fishing laws!

Koh Haa Abandoned Fishing-Net removal

Huge Abandoned Fishing-Net removal at Koh Haa Local Islands on 15.05.2016. We had to bring the Net on Board of PDC1 to cut out a few still alive crabs. It was too difficult to do that underwater! We cut out a crab fortunately still alive, non of us has ever seen while diving. Happy we could rescue a few. A big thanks goes to my students JF, Rachel & Karl which have helped out!

Removing an illegal Fishing Cage inside the Marine National Park

On a scuba dive at the Marine national Park Phi Phi Islands on  20th August 2015 we have found an illegal set Fishing Cage. A Lot of fish have been trapped inside and it was attached with a big rope to a Coral, either by scuba or surface supply divers! Fish cages are not allowed 3 nautical miles around the MN-Park Borders! Thanks a lot to Stefan Heinsen for the great Camera work and Anett for helping out! Also a big thank you goes to project abroad research divers!
