20-21st May underwater CleanUp Days
20th-21st May we had an underwater Cleanup Day with Projects Abroad and The Mayor of Krabi. Here is a small peak.
I’m very happy that i was able to shoot some pretty good footage of a Giant Triggerfish letting me come very close to watch its parenting behavior. After spawning, both the male and female participate in caring for the fertilized eggs (biparental egg care). A female triggerfish stays near the spawning ground, around 5 meters off the bottom, and guards the eggs within her territory against intruders. Besides guarding, females will roll, fan, and blow water on eggs to provide oxygen to the embryo, thereby inducing hatching. This behavior of female triggerfish is called ‘tending,’ and males rarely perform this behavior.
Congratulations to our newly certified CMAS1*Star Divers Janin and Hendrik! We wish you lots of HappyBubbles and hope to see you soon again! We have seen lots of things in 5 dives at the local Islands! Seahorse Bamboo Shark, Razor Fish, Nudibranchs, Flatworm and not to forget the requested green Turtle! 😉
Our beautiful Lady is back in her natural Habitat! Hope you like her as much as we do! ❤ She really turned out gorgeous! ❤
Huge Abandoned Fishing-Net removal at Koh Haa Local Islands on 15.05.2016. We had to bring the Net on Board of PDC1 to cut out a few still alive crabs. It was too difficult to do that underwater! We cut out a crab fortunately still alive, non of us has ever seen while diving. Happy we could rescue a few. A big thanks goes to my students JF, Rachel & Karl which have helped out!
19.02.2016 we removed a huge fishing ghost Net of Koh Ywasam and Koh Meaurai! We can happily report that all the Fishing Net has been removed and we have rescued a great number of Fish and Corals! Thanks to all which have helped out!!!
We met the lovely 3 legged Turtle again! Glad you are still around! Beautiful scuba dives today!
On a scuba dive at the Marine national Park Phi Phi Islands on 20th August 2015 we have found an illegal set Fishing Cage. A Lot of fish have been trapped inside and it was attached with a big rope to a Coral, either by scuba or surface supply divers! Fish cages are not allowed 3 nautical miles around the MN-Park Borders! Thanks a lot to Stefan Heinsen for the great Camera work and Anett for helping out! Also a big thank you goes to project abroad research divers!
The Wind dropped a bit but its still big waves! The next planned scuba diving Trip will be hopefully on Monday?!
